Student Art Selected for State YAM Exhibit

Congratulations to Graham L, from McClure Elementary (Jan Harres, teacher); Nhien N, from Valley Creek Elementary (Amanda Kelly, teacher); Jennifer W, from Dowell MS (Michelle Denison, teacher) and Ocean M, from Boyd HS (Shannon Kessler, teacher) for having their artwork selected for the 2018 Youth Art Month State Capitol Artwork Exhibit in Austin.

March is designated as National Youth Art Month and the State of Texas has been a leader in YAM celebrations since its inception. Each year, districts across the state submit artwork created by Pre-Kindergarten through 12th-grade student artists to be selected for exhibition in the YAM State Capitol Artwork Exhibit in Austin. The Art show only accepts 100 pieces of artwork, with 33% being selected from elementary entries, 33% from middle school entries and 33% from high school entries. The Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) will host a special awards program and reception on Sunday, March 11th, 2:00 p.m., at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin. This celebration will be held in the Austin Room (3rd floor) of the Bullock Museum, which also is the room that will house the exhibit.
