Fine Arts Department – Teachers of the Year on their campus

Congratulations to Kara Saldana, Paul Stephens and Ludi Srinvasan, our Fine Art Department teachers who were recently named Teacher of the Year of their campus.

Kara Saldana teaches Music at Valley Creek Elementary and is in her fourth year there. Previously, she taught elementary music in Denton.

Paul Stephens is a Band Director at Scott Johnson Middle School. He has taught for 34 years, ALL in McKinney ISD.  Paul’s father, Perry Stephens, was band director at McKinney High school before being drafted into the Marine Corps in the 50’s. Paul was thrilled when presented the opportunity to begin his career in the McKinney Independent School District. In 1986 Paul followed in his father’s footsteps as he took over the Director of Bands position at McKinney High School and held that position until 2000 when he became the first band director at SJMS, named after the Superintendent who first hired him, Scott Morgan Johnson.

Ludi Srinivasan teaches Music at Wolford. She is certified in both the Orff and Kodály approaches and just received her M.M. in Music Education from Southern Methodist University. This is her third year in MISD, but she has taught a total of ten years. Ludi believes in and has an immense passion for music education.

Congratulations to Paul Stephens for ultimately being named the MISD 2017 Secondary Teacher of the Year!
